Saving Energy at your Home or Business:
The City of Denton offers free professional Energy Audits, to help residents target energy saving measures. Additionally, the City offers Energy Efficiency Rebates to help offset the costs of many energy efficiency improvements. Solar electric (photovoltaic) systems also qualify for rebates. DME also offers a 100% Renewable Energy electricity rate (GreenSense Renewable rate). Information on tax incentives for efficiency and renewable Energy upgrades can also be found on the DME website.
The links above offer information and support for residents to keep track of their own energy use. These options also show the stakeholders how the DMO is involved in the community and can see the future plans of Denton.
The City and its community-owned power company, Denton Municipal Electric (DME), are committed to efficient use of energy resources. The City promotes efficiency, conservation, and investment in renewable energy.

definitions that are used for sustainability and sustainable tourism
development four distinct groups are identified; the present visitors, future
visitors, present host community, and future host community" (Byrd, pg. 10). Since all of these groups are involved, communicating the sustainability practices is very important. The more people supporting this cause, the better a destination can become.
